It all began 10 years ago. My father took me and my brother to the internet cafe. He wanted to send several company emails for his job. while looking at the cafe atmosphere, my brother and I saw a high school boy. He was renting a computer and playing a game. its sound was noisy and each character shouted at each other. The game moved very fast and there was action here and there. At the time I think welp the game is very interesting. Out of curiosity I asked him what game it was. But maybe because he was focusing on the game he couldn’t answer me. Afraid we would disturb him, we returned to our father. A few months later, my brother who was in high school told me that he and his high school friends were playing games that we had watched before. The name of the game is DotA and they would play it together that weekend. Not wanting to lose the opportunity, I asked my brother to let me come play with him. Lucky me, because he allowed it and finally we played DotA together. After that we played once every few weeks at an internet cafe. One day, my brother brought a copy of the Warcraft and DotA so we could play it together using a home computer. And thus i played it almost everyday and that is the early part of my story.

Skipping school

This is one of the shameful things I’ve ever done. I sometimes skipped school to play DotA for 3 to 5 hours in an internet cafe. I lied and were rarely at home. The result was that my national exam scores were bad and I disappointed my parents. I was so sorry and i don’t want them to be sad again. So when I entered junior high I did not do it again. Don’t make the same mistake, guys! Education comes first.

ALWAYSWANNASUPP

Heroes marked support are usually weak and only have skills that can be used to help. they must be equipped with items for healing, holding back enemies, increasing the ability of cores and providing visual assistance on the map. I like to play as a support because my way of playing is to provide the best help and prepare my core to be able to give the finishing blow to enemies so we can win the game.

Favorite Hero

Rubick the Grand Magus

No sorcery lies beyond my grasp

Rubick is the hero I like the most. in DotA, he is an old witch who uses brown robes and uses purple magic. While in DotA 2, he uses masks and robes with green and black themes. He is the son of the greatest magician in the world, Aghanim. His ultimate skill is spell-steal. Because of that, he can steal the last spell that casted by the enemy and after that he can use it as he pleased. This ability can change the flow of the game and determine who the winner is.

Win a small LAN tournament

left to right : kibul, yupooy, qornan, adamu, chasy

This is trophy that i got from small LAN DotA tournament in my university. With I❤U Full, i won the first place. Actually we just join this tournament for fun and surprisingly we beat everyone. Kibul is the drafter and hard lane core, Yupooy is roaming support, I am safe lane support, Adamu is safe lane core, and chasy is midlane core.

The hype of DotA 2

When Dota 2 beta announced, i didn’t hear the news until when my friend told me in high school. I searched in Google a bit about it and amazed by graphic and mechanic improvement. But i was disappointed because i need beta key to play it and another reason is my laptop don’t meet the minimum requirements. To make it a little better, i downloaded DotA 2 mods for DotA. The result is half bad and half good but hey at least i can feel its atmosphere lol. After some time, i got beta key from my friend and can play it in beta version. Good thing is valve (developer of DotA 2) has optimized the game engine so my potato laptop finally could run it for 20 frames per second.

Poisoning my friends to play it too

I poisoned my friends from high school and university that don’t play DotA to join the path of hell. I gave them some push and provided them with easy way to play. They are cc2040809, rajolangit, bonay, laysernx4, arc1337 and krucil. They played it and sometimes they felt stress sometimes they felt excited. I feel sorry for them but i hope they enjoyed the game lol.

Today..

I’ve played DotA 2 about 3000 hours. I am rarely play because i don’t play seriously anymore because rank is not that matter right now. Another reason is my friends that play with me years ago stopped playing and have their own life. So i just play when i have free time and if they invited me to play together. For entertainment purpose, i like to watch videos from some DotA content creators. My favorites are Dota Watafak, NoobFromUA, AdmiralBulldog, SingSing, and Ligagame EsportsTV.

From my experiences, i can say what i like from DotA are :

  1. Full of strategy and mind games
  2. Competitive scene
  3. Game always changing
  4. Amazing lore
  5. My potato pc can run this :p

And what i don’t like from DotA are :

  1. Not suitable for newbies
  2. Has a toxic community

Closing

Even its positives and negatives, i really like the game. I hope it’s still alive for more years and gained more new player to play. Life lesson that i learned from Dota 2 are :

  • Start small.
  • Don’t be an egoistic and arrogant person.
  • Prepare your finishing blow.
  • Do your job as a team to reach the biggest goal.
  • You must have right tools for certain situation.
  • Don’t give up too early because you can comeback.
